Use 2020 for the Marriott and 2000 for GICC
The biggest navigation trap is the street name itself. Convention Center Concourse is a road, not proof that you have reached the convention-center entrance. The hotel and GICC are neighboring but separate destinations.

Use this destination when your badge, exhibitor manual or organizer explicitly says GICC, Exhibit Hall A-D, International Ballroom or an International Suite.
Rideshare/GPS fix: do not enter only “convention center.” Use the full hotel name for the Marriott lobby and the full GICC name for convention-center arrival. The street numbers differ by only 20, which is why this mistake is easy to make.
Marriott’s map link resolves to approximately 33.644243, -84.455616. Use the full street address rather than coordinates for normal navigation.
Use the ATL SkyTrain differently for Domestic and International arrivals
The ATL SkyTrain is complimentary and the airport describes it as a 24/7 connection among the airport, GICC/Gateway hotels, ATL West and the Rental Car Center. Marriott’s official transportation flyer adds the micro-steps that generic hotel listings usually omit.

Follow the overhead signs rather than looking for a generic hotel-shuttle bay.
The official flyer uses those words to route travelers to the SkyTrain.
Take the escalator up to the SkyTrain station.
Marriott describes the airport-to-hotel ride as about two minutes.

Marriott Gateway → airport for departure
Domestic departure
Exit the Marriott and turn right toward SkyTrain, ride to Airport Station, then descend toward South Terminal (Red) for Delta or North Terminal (Blue) for other airlines. The Marriott flyer then directs travelers across the street into the Domestic Terminal.
International departure
Ride SkyTrain to Airport Station and descend toward the terminal, but do not cross the street. Turn right to the International Shuttle Connector and use the official flyer’s Stop 1 for the International shuttle.

Connected for attendees, separate for rooms, parking and capacity
The Marriott is a hotel-based event venue with its own ballroom and breakout rooms. GICC is the neighboring large convention center. Marriott markets them together because the Gateway complex supports coordinated room blocks and large events, but a visitor still needs to know which building contains the function.

Combined-space warning: Marriott’s events page can surface 26 event rooms, 431,964 sq ft and a 16,760-person largest-space capacity because its capacity chart includes the 400,000-sq-ft GICC as part of the event complex. Those are not hotel-only room figures. For a Marriott-only meeting, use the exact hotel room rows and the official meeting-planner PDF.
Another nearby destination: Gateway Center Arena is also on the SkyTrain-served campus. If your ticket says the arena rather than GICC or Marriott, use the event’s exact destination instead of assuming the convention-center entrance.
Hotel parking and GICC event parking are separate products
Driving visitors should decide their destination before entering the Gateway campus. A hotel guest, Marriott meeting attendee and GICC convention attendee can see different parking rates, rules and in/out privileges.

Stale-price trap: an older Marriott dining subpage can still expose lower parking figures. The current Marriott property overview lists $47/day self parking and $52/day valet; use the current property/booking page as the final hotel reference.
Do not use GICC’s $15 per-entry event rate as overnight hotel parking. “Per entry” can matter if you leave and return. Confirm the correct parking product, event rate and in/out rule before paying.

Plan by the exact room—not one marketing square-foot headline
Marriott currently mixes several scopes on its events pages. The live page promotes a larger GICC-inclusive complex, while hotel marketing modules describe roughly 28,000 renovated sq ft, a 31,000+ sq-ft 3D tour, and nearly 32,000 sq ft for weddings. For real setup decisions, the room-by-room Marriott capacity chart and meeting-planner PDF are more useful.

Capacity rule: listed capacities are standard setups. Staging, AV, production, dance floor, registration, food stations and accessibility/fire-code aisles can reduce usable attendance. Ask the event manager for the final approved diagram.
What the hotel floor plan tells you before you arrive
The official Marriott planner brochure is more useful than a generic “meeting space” total because it shows where parking, registration, dining and room clusters sit relative to the lobby.
Lobby / arrival cluster
The plan places the front desk, registration desk, elevators, Terminal East Starbucks/gift shop and self-parking deck around the main lobby zone. If you are checking in and registering for a hotel meeting, this is the first orientation point.
Gateway Ballroom cluster
Salons A-H form the Gateway Ballroom footprint with a broad pre-function corridor. If your program says “Salon D” or “Salon H,” do not search for a separate building.
Breakout wings
Gulfstream and Phoenix sit toward the west side; Jetstream, Discovery, Explorer, Voyager and Executive Boardroom are toward the east side. Build walking time into short breaks.

The current in-house AV brochure publishes per-day/per-room reference pricing and technical requirements. These are useful for early budgeting but are not a substitute for a current event proposal.

Fee/tax warning: the brochure says rental prices are generally per day/per room and references a 26% taxable service charge plus sales tax; its general-information page states sales tax was currently 8.75% when published. Service charges/taxes can change, so use the current proposal/BEO for the payable total.
PDF inconsistency worth catching: the same brochure displays two different client-supplied projector setup-fee references ($100 and $120 per day/per room). This guide does not choose one as “the” current fee—ask the AV team to quote it in writing.
If your event is at GICC, the four exhibit halls and International Ballroom change the scale
The Georgia International Convention Center is not a Marriott ballroom extension. Its current floor-plan data shows four equal exhibit halls plus a large divisible International Ballroom and permanent boardrooms. Use your organizer’s exact hall/salon assignment.

Current GICC/Marriott capacity data places the full ballroom at roughly 40,300 sq ft, with a reception setup around 4,460 and theater setup around 4,000. It can be subdivided into salons.
Boardrooms
GICC lists Boardroom 1 at 1,040 sq ft / 20 conference and Boardrooms 2 and 3 at 780 sq ft / 12 conference each.
Exhibitor logistics
GICC facts list 17 loading docks. Freight, credentials, move-in and dock access are organizer-controlled—do not use hotel-lobby directions for exhibit freight.
Why Marriott shows a 16,760 “largest capacity”: its events graph includes the connected GICC inventory. That 16,760 figure corresponds to the four-hall GICC reception setup, not the hotel’s Gateway Ballroom.

Marriott currently describes Atlanta Airport Marriott Gateway as LEED Silver Certified; the property details also list LEED New Construction certification. The official sustainability flyer explains what the hotel says it does beyond the badge.
EV detail: the sustainability flyer references two preferred EV parking spots, while the live property page confirms electric-car charging. Availability and exact charger access should be checked before an EV-dependent stay.
For Downtown Atlanta, transfer to MARTA—and account for current Airport Station elevator work
The free ATL SkyTrain stays on the airport/Gateway/Rental Car Center system; it does not continue into Downtown Atlanta. For city rail, use MARTA Airport Station on the Domestic Terminal side.

Current accessibility alert — effective Aug. 10, 2026: MARTA says one of the two elevators at Airport Station is temporarily closed for renovation. The other newer elevator remains available, so elevator access continues. Completion is currently scheduled for Fall 2027. Allow extra wayfinding time and follow station signs.

Filter recent reviews by the trip you are actually taking
