Where to ask for directions
The north Guest Services Center is in the Main Concourse near Exhibit Hall A. It is a better orientation point than guessing from a street door.

Halls A–D run along the Main Concourse, with High Street on the concourse side and multiple garage/hotel skybridge connections around the complex.
Old ballroom labels can appear
The capacity PDF predates the July 2026 Heart of It All Ballroom branding. For a 2026 event, the current organizer agenda wins when room names differ.
Use the map for geographic orientation only. Use the current event map or GCCC floor plan for your exact hall, ballroom or meeting-room route.
Bag policy: what is universal and what belongs to the organizer?
Direct answer: the current GCCC FAQ and Code of Conduct do not publish one universal clear-bag dimension for every event. Do not copy a 4.5×6.5, 12×12 or stadium-style size from another event unless your organizer explicitly uses it.
The venue can still inspect bags
The April 14, 2026 Event Planning Guide states that GCCC management and security reserve the right to inspect packages, purses, boxes, bags, containers, briefcases, luggage and coolers brought onto or removed from the property. That is a venue inspection right; it is not the same thing as a universal clear-bag size.

Parking rates, garage clearances and the old-price problem
GCCC/FCCFA operate six parking locations with roughly 4,700 spaces. The current main parking page lists a $25 standard event rate and says premium-event rates may rise to $30. An older official attendee page still shows $15/$12 event prices; use the current main parking page and the amount displayed at entry.

Event parking rules: no in/out privileges; the fee is per space; vehicles remaining past 6 a.m. the next day can incur additional daily charges. A vehicle occupying multiple spaces can be charged for each space.

Connected hotels vs “across the street”
Experience Columbus currently says Downtown has more than 5,000 rooms, with about 2,700 connected or adjacent to the convention center. For a multi-day event, the useful question is not only distance—it is whether your hotel route is actually indoors, how far your room is from the skybridge and whether your event has a housing block.

Hotel-block check: sports tournaments and conferences may use contracted housing, cutoff dates or stay-to-play rules. Do not book a non-refundable room from a generic hotel search before checking the organizer.
The Wi-Fi detail most attendee guides miss
Important: the current April 2026 Event Planning Guide says complimentary Wi-Fi is not available in the exhibit halls, Short North Ballroom, Union Station Ballroom or Battelle Grand Ballroom. Do not promise “free Wi-Fi everywhere” based on an event FAQ or older summary.
Boldyn Networks is the venue’s exclusive internet-service provider. Paid higher-bandwidth and secure services are available, and the planning guide references “Exhibitor Internet” and “Instant Internet” SSIDs only in supported areas.
Attendee
If your conference advertises complimentary Wi-Fi, that may be event-provided or available in selected meeting/public areas. Check the organizer if internet is essential.
Exhibitor

Medical help and AED locations
The 2026 planning guide says GCCC Public Safety is on duty around the clock and coordinates with Columbus Fire. AEDs are located in the Main Concourse outside Exhibit Halls A, B, C and D, and Public Safety responders carry first-aid equipment, an AED and oxygen.
Inside the venue: the planning guide instructs event staff to use GCCC Public Safety at 614-827-2547 so responders can route outside emergency crews to the correct area in the large building. For an immediate life-threatening emergency when venue staff cannot be reached, call 911.
Volleyball at GCCC: current-status check for families and teams
GCCC is a major volleyball venue, but the major 2026 USA Volleyball events we verified are already past as of August 18. That matters because old tournament pages can still rank for “volleyball today.”

Why the Room B131 example matters: tournament logistics can direct players/coaches to a meeting room that is completely different from spectator entry or court access. Use the current tournament manual, not a venue-wide assumption.

South Café & Marketplace
South-side quick-service and visitor-service area near South Garage/Nationwide Boulevard access.
Discovery Café
By the exhibit halls; venue FAQ identifies Levy-operated concepts including Crimson Cup, CBUS Tap Room, Columbus Grille and Homegrown Market.
Starbucks status
The current venue FAQ marks the south-side Starbucks as temporarily closed. Do not rely on older food pages that list it without that status.
Guest Services does more than directions
The two Guest Services Centers can help with facility/event information, scooter rentals, notary service, USPS Priority Mail, stamps, prepaid domestic FedEx/UPS pickup, photocopying, faxing, printing and basic business supplies. One center is near South Café; the other is in the Main Concourse near Hall A.
Outside food for planned events
The current Event Planning Guide names Levy as the exclusive food-and-beverage provider and says outside food/beverage may not be brought in for an event by the client or attendees under the license arrangement. Medical/dietary needs and event-specific exceptions should be confirmed with the organizer or catering contact rather than guessed.
Lost something? Lost & Found is handled through Public Safety. The venue FAQ directs guests to its online lost-and-found system or Public Safety at 614-827-2547.
Public transit stops within a few minutes of the convention center
For local transit, use current COTA information rather than legacy venue references to old or special-event airport shuttles. COTA’s current convention-center page lists these nearby stops and routes.

For driving, the venue’s official directions say take I-670 West and Exit 4-B. For transit, use the current COTA trip planner for your travel date rather than assuming an old special-event route still runs.
Bike share
The venue FAQ says four CoGo bike-share options are near main entrances and parking garages. Check live bike/dock availability before relying on one for the return trip.
Rideshare / taxi
Useful for airport and hotel trips, but event traffic can change the best pickup/drop-off side. Use organizer instructions when published.
Freight, loading, rigging and internet rules exhibitors should know
The official April 2026 Event Planning Guide is much more useful than generic “exhibitor parking” advice. These rules can prevent rejected shipments, last-minute fees and wrong-door arrivals.

Right-to-work building: the planning guide says exhibitors may load, unload and assemble equipment, but that does not override loading-dock controls, fire permits, service-elevator rules, exclusive services or event-contractor instructions.

Floor-plan/fire-marshal checkpoint
The guide calls for three floor-plan copies for Fire Marshal approval early in planning and again at the final-plan stage. This is planner content—not something an attendee needs to solve—but it explains why exhibit layouts and aisles can change before an event opens.
Room-name and management updates that make older pages stale
Heart of It All Ballroom: FCCFA announced a new Ohio destination-marketing partnership in July 2026, and current August NAIC agendas already use Heart of It All Ballroom A/B/C — Level 1. If an older floor plan uses a previous ballroom name, follow the current event agenda.

Who owns the Greater Columbus Convention Center?
The Franklin County Convention Facilities Authority (FCCFA) is an independent governmental entity established in 1988 by the Franklin County Board of Commissioners. FCCFA owns and oversees GCCC along with other convention/tourism assets and parking facilities. Current 2026 FCCFA material identifies Legends Global as the convention center’s operator.
