Plan the Event First—Then Choose the Right Ticket, Garage, Entrance and Route
Raleigh Convention Center is at 500 S Salisbury St in downtown Raleigh. A smooth visit starts with the exact event, because the organizer controls tickets and public hours while the venue and City control building access, parking, road notices and facility rules.
This Aug. 18, 2026 refresh also separates the current 500,000-square-foot building from future RCC West, and flags a newly approved naming-rights change that has not yet replaced the venue’s public-facing name on its official website.

Venue-level information, not universal event ticketing
DEKA FIT public race days; Housing Forum is Saturday
Capacity reached; City lists a waitlist email
$24 daily max since Aug. 1; paid 24/7
Accessible daily; rideshare lane and R-Line stop
Official notice runs through Dec. 31, 2026
150,000 sq ft contiguous exhibit hall
Public target 2029; facility page books for 2030
Atlantic Union Bank Convention Center approved June 16
Event-specific/dedicated networks are separate
Mamava pods, sensory bags, ALDs, accessible routes
Best next step: open your event organizer page before choosing a garage. Ticket, badge, security, bag and public-hour instructions can differ from the RCC calendar’s broader booking window.
The approved name change—and what name to use today
Raleigh City Council voted 8–0 on June 16, 2026 to approve a sponsorship agreement to rename the venue Atlantic Union Bank Convention Center.
Search tip: if future tickets, maps or hotel blocks say “Atlantic Union Bank Convention Center,” verify the address. The venue at 500 S Salisbury St is the same physical convention center unless an official source says otherwise.
Events from Aug. 18 into September
Use the RCC calendar to confirm that a booking is at the venue. Use the organizer for public hours, admission, badges and attendee restrictions. The venue calendar can include setup or move-out days that are not public event days.
| Event | RCC calendar date | User-help status | Best next source |
|---|---|---|---|
| PAC World Americas Conference 2026 | Aug. 17–20 | In progress this week | Conference organizer for attendee program/access |
| North Carolina Digital Government Summit 2026 | Aug. 19 | One-day calendar listing | Organizer for registration eligibility and schedule |
| Spartan DEKA FIT | Aug. 21–23 | Organizer’s public competition dates are Aug. 22–23 | Spartan for participant/spectator tickets and heat times |
| City Affordable Housing Forum | Aug. 22 | 1–6 p.m.; registration closed at capacity | City forum page / housing@raleighnc.gov for waitlist |
| Gold’s Gym Classic | Aug. 29 | Upcoming | Organizer link from RCC calendar |
| 2026 Annual National Conference | Aug. 29–Sep. 3 | RCC event page shows “On Sale Now” | Event-specific purchase/registration link |
| ASDSO 2026 Annual National Conference | Aug. 29–Sep. 3 | RCC page shows “On Sale Now” | ASDSO/linked organizer route |
| Princess Day | Sep. 5 | Listed on current RCC calendar | Organizer for admission details |
| Raleigh Game & Geek Expo | Sep. 5–6 | Listed on current RCC calendar | Organizer for tickets, hours and entry rules |
Do not read the timestamp beside an RCC event as a guaranteed door time. Some venue listings show generated time stamps. Public doors, sessions, races and registration windows belong to the organizer’s attendee schedule.
Aug. 22–23: two different reasons people will be arriving downtown
Spartan DEKA FIT
RCC holds the venue booking across Aug. 21–23, while Spartan’s public competition dates are Saturday and Sunday. Check Spartan for your exact race heat, spectator access and ticket category.
Affordable Housing Forum
The City’s dedicated current page says the forum has reached capacity and registration is closed. People seeking the waitlist are directed to housing@raleighnc.gov.
Plan for overlapping demand
Event traffic can overlap Saturday. The three City event decks now use the new Aug. 1 rate structure, so old screenshots showing a $10 special-event rate are not a reliable default.
Who sells the ticket—and who does not
RCC explicitly says it does not produce the events and cannot answer event-specific or ticketing questions through its general venue contact route. That makes a venue-calendar result useful for discovery, but the organizer is the final source for purchases and registration.
This proves the venue/date relationship and usually gives you an organizer route.
Look for public days, door time, registration eligibility, ticket categories, waivers, refund rules and badge pickup.
Do not assume a reseller page is the official path just because it ranks for “Raleigh Convention Center tickets.”
Screenshot or download the QR code and preserve any hall, entrance, ID or waiver instructions.
Current example: the City Affordable Housing Forum does not need a generic “ticket” search—the current City page says registration is already closed and offers a waitlist contact instead.
How to tell current facility photos from RCC West renderings
Photo intent changed in 2026 because official search results now contain both the current building and newly released interior renderings of the expansion.
Facility gallery
Use the current facility page for the Main Lobby, Ballroom, meeting space, Mezzanine and Exhibit Hall that exist today.
Virtual tour
The official facility page links a virtual tour. It is more useful than a single photo when you need spatial context for a current event.
May 2026 expansion renderings
The 18,000-sq-ft future ballroom and 50,000-sq-ft flex hall images are architectural renderings. They are not completed rooms available to 2026 attendees.
Caption rule: label an RCC West image as a rendering/future space. Never caption it “Raleigh Convention Center interior” without explaining that the room is planned rather than open.
Map the building, then choose the active door
Map for geographic orientation. Room-level planning should use the organizer’s hall assignment and RCC’s official floorplans or simplified building map.
| Access point | Verified status | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| S. Salisbury Street | Accessible daily; automatic doors; rideshare lane; R-Line stop | Best default when organizer gives no different door |
| Salisbury / Lenoir corner | Additional entrance; event-dependent | Only when event location/organizer makes it active |
| Cabarrus / McDowell corner | Additional entrance; event-dependent | Confirm with organizer before relying on it |
Parking rates that supersede older garage-page prices
The City’s July 13 rate-change notice is the safest current pricing source. Beginning Aug. 1, all three City event decks use one structure: $4/hour, $24 daily maximum, paid 24/7.
| Parking choice | Address/category | Current rate rule | User-help note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Convention Center / Charter Square Underground | 1 W Lenoir St • event deck | $4/hr • $24 daily max • 24/7 paid | Close to venue; current systemwide rate notice overrides old rate text |
| Cabarrus Parking Deck | 436 S Salisbury St • event deck | $4/hr • $24 daily max • 24/7 paid | Useful close option; expect event demand |
| Performing Arts Parking Deck | 128 W South St • event deck | $4/hr • $24 daily max • 24/7 paid | Approach can be affected by nearby construction patterns |
| Non-event City decks | Blount, City Center/Red Hat, City Hall, Moore Square, Wilmington | $3/hr • $21 max; first 2 hours free weekdays; free weekends | Those perks do not apply to the three event decks |
| On-street | Metered downtown spaces | $1.50/hr • 8 a.m.–6 p.m. weekdays | Normally free after 6/weekends, unless signs or closures say otherwise |
Why Google can show conflicting parking prices: some individual garage pages still surface pre-Aug. 1 figures. Use the City’s current systemwide rate-change notice or the price posted at the facility on the day you park.
Parking problem? RCC says the surrounding decks are operated separately and the convention center does not control garage rates or maintenance. The City’s current parking-rate notice lists Raleigh Parking at 919-996-3996 and raleighparking@raleighnc.gov.
Do not follow an old downtown approach route blindly
Car-free arrival options
Stops at the front
RCC says Raleigh’s free downtown circulator stops in the South Salisbury pickup/drop-off lane. Use current R-Line service information for live operation.
Raleigh Union Station
If arriving by rail, compare walking, rideshare and downtown transit from Union Station based on weather, luggage and mobility needs.
Public transit requires planning
Current RDU guidance uses GoTriangle Route 100 with an RDU Shuttle connection through the Regional Transit Center. Compare this with direct rideshare/taxi for your arrival time.
Do not promise a fixed airport drive time. Construction, event traffic and pickup queues can make a generic “20 minutes” estimate unreliable.
Food, coffee, prohibited items and lost property
Complex Brew is an attendee-only amenity
Complex Brew is just off the Main Lobby. RCC says it rotates local coffee roasters and offers coffee drinks, small bites, sweets, beer and wine. It is open to event attendees only, so do not treat it like a public street-access coffee shop.
What the venue does not allow
Lost & Found
Submit the official RCC Lost & Found form. For questions, the venue lists 919-996-8988. If you need help completing the form, it lists rcpaclostandfound@raleighnc.gov.
Room and hall details that exist today
| Space | Current official detail | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Total facility | 500,000 sq ft | This is the operating venue footprint before West opens |
| Exhibit Hall ABC | 150,000 sq ft contiguous; divisible into halls | Your assigned hall changes walking, loading and registration flow |
| Ballroom | 32,617 sq ft; divides into 3 areas | Adjacent 11,500-sq-ft reception/registration space |
| Meeting rooms | 20 rooms totaling 32,600 sq ft | Rooms can combine; do not assume a room number is near the exhibit hall |
| Mezzanine | 11,200 sq ft | Connects to current Marriott City Center and overlooks exhibit halls |
| Main Lobby registration | 2,665 sq ft | Potential check-in area; your organizer can place registration elsewhere |
Capacity-source conflict: RCC’s current planner facility page lists up to 773 booths, 8,980 banquet seating, 10,000 theater seating and 12 covered loading docks, while another venue-facing exhibitor source has surfaced different figures. Do not combine them. Use the latest official capacity chart and your Event Manager’s approved layout for a real event.
Use the 2026 project plan—not older 2028 concepts
Current public RCC and Visit Raleigh material describes 298,100 square feet of new space, taking the public-facing facility total to 798,100 square feet.
| Planned element | Current public detail | Status today |
|---|---|---|
| New expansion space | 298,100 sq ft | Future; not current visitor space |
| Future total | 798,100 sq ft | Do not use as current building size |
| Flex Hall | 50,000 sq ft; divisible; 11,200 sq ft prefunction | Future |
| Ballroom | 18,000 sq ft | Future |
| Meeting space | 23,120 sq ft; 13 rooms | Future |
| Public target | Anticipated 2029 opening | Target, not a guaranteed event date |
| Sales signal | RCC West “BOOKING FOR 2030” on facility page | Use sales for contracted availability |
| Certification target | LEED Gold target | Future target; current building is LEED Silver |
Why some official numbers differ: construction/procurement documents can describe a broader project scope than the public program’s 298,100 square feet of new convention space. For visitor and meeting-space comparisons, use RCC’s current public program figures; for contracting/construction scope, use the relevant City procurement document.
Older search-result warning: older official concepts referencing a larger ~300k/500k addition or a 2028 opening should not overwrite the newer 2026 RCC West plan. The current dedicated facility/news pages are the safer source.
Arrival, navigation and sensory support
Accessible arrival and entrances
Elevators and restrooms
All levels are reachable by elevator. RCC states that elevator doors are at least 42 inches wide. Restrooms are in the Main Lobby, Ballroom Lobby, South Lobby and Mezzanine; accessible stalls use grab bars and the venue lists a 32-inch stall entry width. Family/gender-neutral single-stall restrooms are available in the Main Lobby, Ballroom Lobby and Mezzanine and include baby-changing stations.
Lactation, sensory and communication support
Rules that can cause expensive or last-minute problems
The official handbook is much more useful than a generic “book this venue” section. These are the operational rules planners and exhibitors should surface early.
Access times, timelines and insurance
Loading dock and freight
| Rule | Current handbook detail | Practical meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Load-in plan | Approve with Event Manager at least 30 days before move-in | Do not arrive with a truck and improvise |
| Dock access list | Vehicles/people list at least 14 business days before arrival | Unlisted access can be delayed/denied |
| Vehicle time | 20-minute dock allowance | Unload/load, then leave to park |
| Service road | Pedestrian access prohibited | Exhibitors re-enter through an approved public entrance after parking |
| Salisbury move-in | Hand-carried items only with approval; third-party vendors use dock | Main Lobby is not a vendor freight entrance |
| Show-management packages | No more than 48 hours before event; required labeling | Early packages may be refused |
| Exhibitor freight | RCC does not accept/store exhibitor freight | Use a general service contractor/drayage provider |
| Outgoing pickup | Arrange pickup within 24 hours | Do not leave freight after contracted move-out |
Floor plans, sound and security
Budget flags planners often miss
Holiday surcharge: the current handbook lists a $5,000/day surcharge for event activity on a City-observed holiday, with premium/holiday labor billed separately. It also lists a $10,000/day operational surcharge for certain events using less than one-third of the building as the only event without significant ancillary services. These are planning flags—not a substitute for a formal venue estimate.
Read the show manual before shipping or ordering utilities
Choose a hotel by event friction, not only nightly price
Raleigh Marriott City Center
The current RCC Mezzanine connects to the attached Marriott City Center. This can be valuable for speakers, staff, exhibitors and early-morning sessions.
Walkable alternatives
Compare actual walking route, overnight parking, event hotel-block deadline, luggage storage and cancellation terms—not just map distance.
Do not book around a future hotel
Development around the expansion is changing. Verify that a hotel is open for your actual dates before presenting it as an event-day amenity.
LEED Silver today; Gold is an expansion target
The current building is officially LEED Silver-certified. RCC also reports NC Green Travel certification, a 500kW rooftop solar array with 2,000 panels, an EV charging station in a parking deck, extensive green-cleaning practices and other sustainability programs.
Do not promote LEED Gold as current. Gold is the target for RCC West. The operating 2026 convention center remains LEED Silver.
Which PDF or source should you open for your exact task?
The current RCC facility/accessibility pages link official room-capacity, floorplan, simplified-wayfinding and accessibility-guide downloads. These documents are most useful after you know your hall/room or planning task.
| Need | Open this | Use it for |
|---|---|---|
| Compare room setups | Room Capacity Chart PDF | Setup-specific capacities; use instead of mixing conflicting marketing summaries |
| Understand rooms/levels | Floorplans PDF | Room layout, hall relationship and planner routing |
| Simple attendee orientation | Simplified Building Map | Wayfinding after organizer gives your room/hall |
| Accessibility route/details | Accessibility Guide PDF | Detailed facility access planning alongside the live accessibility page |

Questions visitors and planners ask most
What is the Raleigh Convention Center address?
Raleigh Convention Center is at 500 South Salisbury Street, Raleigh, NC 27601 in downtown Raleigh.
What events are at Raleigh Convention Center this weekend?
For Aug. 22–23, 2026, the venue calendar includes Spartan DEKA FIT across Aug. 21–23, while Spartan’s public competition dates are Aug. 22–23. The City of Raleigh Affordable Housing Forum is also at the venue on Saturday, Aug. 22 from 1–6 p.m.; registration is closed because capacity has been reached.
Where can I see the Raleigh Convention Center event calendar?
Use the official RCC Events page to confirm that an event is booked at the venue. Then use the event organizer for public hours, tickets, registration, badge pickup and event-specific rules because a venue booking window can be broader than public attendee hours.
Does Raleigh Convention Center sell tickets directly?
RCC states that it does not produce the events and cannot handle event-specific ticketing inquiries through its venue contact route. Use the event organizer, host organization or official ticket provider linked from the event page.
Is registration still open for the Aug. 22 Affordable Housing Forum?
No. The City of Raleigh’s current forum page says registration is closed because capacity has been reached. It directs people seeking the waitlist to housing@raleighnc.gov.
How much is parking at Raleigh Convention Center in August 2026?
Beginning Aug. 1, 2026, the City’s three event parking decks—Cabarrus Street, Convention Center/Charter Square and Performing Arts—charge $4 per hour with a $24 daily maximum and paid parking 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Which parking decks are closest to Raleigh Convention Center?
Useful City options include the Convention Center/Charter Square Underground Deck at 1 W Lenoir St, Cabarrus Parking Deck at 436 S Salisbury St and Performing Arts Parking Deck at 128 W South St. Choose by your approach route, event instructions and current availability.
Is there a road closure near Raleigh Convention Center?
Yes. The official RCC directions page says the westbound Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard exit ramp to northbound McDowell Street is closed from Apr. 15 through Dec. 31, 2026. The venue recommends Wilmington Street followed by South Street or Lenoir Street as the detour.
Where can I find current Raleigh Convention Center photos?
Use the official facility page and virtual tour for the current building. Separate May 2026 RCC pages show architectural renderings of the future RCC West expansion, so those images should not be treated as photos of completed rooms.
How big is the current Raleigh Convention Center?
The current operating facility is about 500,000 square feet. Its official facility page lists a 150,000-square-foot contiguous exhibit hall, a 32,617-square-foot ballroom, 20 meeting rooms totaling 32,600 square feet and an 11,200-square-foot mezzanine.
How large will the Raleigh Convention Center expansion be?
Current RCC and Visit Raleigh materials describe 298,100 square feet of new RCC West space, bringing the future public-facing facility total to 798,100 square feet. Planned additions include a 50,000-square-foot divisible flex hall, an 18,000-square-foot ballroom and 13 new meeting rooms.
When will RCC West open?
Current 2026 public venue and destination materials anticipate a 2029 opening, while the RCC facility page says RCC West is booking for 2030. Planners should confirm contracted availability directly with venue sales instead of treating a target opening year as a guaranteed event date.
Is Raleigh Convention Center being renamed?
Yes. On June 16, 2026, Raleigh City Council voted 8–0 to approve a sponsorship agreement to rename the venue Atlantic Union Bank Convention Center. As of this Aug. 18 review, the official venue website and calendar still publicly use the name Raleigh Convention Center, so this guide uses the current public-facing venue name while noting the approved change.
Is Raleigh Convention Center accessible?
Yes. The venue lists an accessible daily entrance on South Salisbury Street, automatic doors, first-floor accessible spaces in downtown decks, elevators to all levels, first-come wheelchairs, accessible restrooms, two Mamava lactation pods, KultureCity sensory bags, assisted listening devices and service-animal support.
Does Raleigh Convention Center have free Wi-Fi?
Yes. RCC says general Wi-Fi is available throughout the center. Event-specific networks, dedicated bandwidth and higher-density connectivity can be arranged separately, so exhibitors should not assume the free attendee network is sufficient for mission-critical booth operations.
Is there coffee or food inside Raleigh Convention Center?
Complex Brew is located just off the Main Lobby and serves rotating local-roaster coffee plus small bites, sweets, beer and wine. RCC states that Complex Brew is open to event attendees only. Broader catering and food service are handled through Sodexo Live and event-specific operations.
Can I bring outside food, alcohol or a folding chair?
The current venue prohibited-items policy bans bulk outside food, beverages and coolers, outside alcohol, weapons, tobacco and vaping products, helium balloons, pyrotechnics, artificial noisemakers, drones and portable or folding seating. Event organizers may impose additional restrictions.
Does the R-Line stop at Raleigh Convention Center?
Yes. RCC says the free downtown R-Line circulator stops in the pickup and drop-off lane in front of the South Salisbury Street main entrance.
What should I do if I lose something at the venue?
Submit the official RCC Lost and Found form. The venue lists 919-996-8988 for questions and rcpaclostandfound@raleighnc.gov for help completing the form.
Who owns Raleigh Convention Center?
The City of Raleigh officially states that it owns and manages Raleigh Convention Center. The approved naming-rights agreement does not change that public ownership relationship.
