Renaissance Atlanta Airport Gateway: SkyTrain & GICC Guide

Renaissance Atlanta Airport Gateway: SkyTrain, GICC, Parking & Stay Guide

Renaissance Atlanta Airport Gateway Hotel is at 2081 Convention Center Concourse, Atlanta, GA 30337. Its biggest advantage is logistics: the complimentary ATL SkyTrain connects the domestic-terminal airport complex to Gateway Center around the clock, and the hotel is connected by walkway to the Georgia International Convention Center.

Use this guide to decide whether the Renaissance is the right choice for an airport overnight, a GICC conference, an onsite meeting, or a stay where parking, restaurant hours, accessibility and early-flight timing matter.

Which plan matches your stay?

Airport overnight

Early flight or late arrival

Prioritize the SkyTrain route, check-in timing and food availability. You may not need a rental car for a one-night airport stay.

GICC attendee

Convention next door

The walkway is the main advantage. Save your GICC hall and compare overnight hotel parking with lower-cost event parking before driving.

Hotel meeting

Event at the Renaissance itself

Use the Tango Ballroom and breakout-room capacity section below. Hotel meeting space is separate from the much larger GICC.

Exact location—and the hotel-name trap to avoid

Use 2081 Convention Center Concourse, Atlanta, GA 30337 for the Renaissance Atlanta Airport Gateway Hotel. The property sits on the Gateway Center campus beside the Georgia International Convention Center and near the airport Rental Car Center corridor.

Phone

470-306-0100. Call the hotel for same-day room, parking, accessible-room or dining clarification.

Airport relationship

Marriott lists ATL about 2 miles away, but the SkyTrain connection is usually more useful than road mileage.

Renaissance Gateway is not Renaissance Concourse

Different property: Renaissance Atlanta Airport Gateway Hotel is the 30337 Gateway Center/SkyTrain/GICC hotel. Renaissance Concourse Atlanta Airport Hotel is at One Hartsfield Centre Parkway, Atlanta, GA 30354, has phone 404-209-9999 and uses a different domestic-terminal shuttle/parking setup. Confirm the address before you book, call or navigate.

ATL SkyTrain: how the airport connection actually works

ATL says the SkyTrain is a complimentary automated people mover operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It connects the airport/Rental Car Center corridor with the Gateway Center campus, including GICC and the Renaissance. Marriott describes the hotel trip as about two minutes and says no ticket or pass is required.

From the Domestic Terminal

Finish baggage claim first

Collect checked luggage before leaving the terminal area.

Follow Rental Car Center / ATL SkyTrain signs

The hotel does not require waiting for a conventional branded van at a hotel-shuttle bay.

Board the free SkyTrain

Use the Gateway Center stop; Marriott/GICC describe it as the first campus stop from the airport direction.

Follow Gateway Center hotel signage

Once off the train, follow signs/covered campus routing to the Renaissance rather than continuing to the Rental Car Center.

Why this hotel works well without a car: an airport overnight or GICC conference can often be handled with SkyTrain + walking, avoiding a rental car and $47/day hotel self-parking.

International Terminal arrival: one extra transfer

The International Terminal does not work like the Domestic Terminal SkyTrain entrance. ATL’s current ground-transportation guidance says the International Terminal Shuttle connects the International Terminal with the Rental Car Center and runs roughly every 15 minutes.

Complete arrival formalities and collect luggage

If Atlanta is your destination, finish the required customs/baggage process before leaving the arrivals area.

Follow International Terminal ground-transportation signs

Do not assume a Renaissance-branded van is waiting outside simply because a booking page says “airport shuttle.”

Use the free connector

ATL provides International Terminal shuttle service to the Rental Car Center and also connections toward the Domestic Terminal.

Transfer to SkyTrain for Gateway Center

From the Rental Car Center direction, take SkyTrain back toward Gateway Center/airport and exit at the Gateway campus.

Best same-day safeguard: airport routing can change by construction or operations. If signage and this guide differ, follow ATL signage or ask airport staff rather than waiting for a hotel van in the wrong terminal.

GICC connection: when the walkway is the real reason to stay here

Marriott says the Renaissance is connected to the Georgia International Convention Center by walkway. GICC describes itself as a 400,000-square-foot convention center with 150,000 square feet of exhibit space, a 40,000-square-foot ballroom, and 2,000 on-site parking spaces.

Attendee

Save the GICC event hall, registration desk and opening time. “Connected hotel” reduces outdoor travel but does not eliminate walking inside the convention campus.

Exhibitor

Hotel guest access is not an exhibitor freight route. Follow your show manual for docks, freight, setup, booth services and move-in timing.

Planner

Separate hotel meeting rooms from GICC inventory. Gateway marketing can describe the combined campus, but your RFP should state which building/room you are actually contracting.

Hotel parking and GICC event parking are separate decisions

GICC currently publishes $15 per entry for its cashless surface parking, with fees subject to event variation. That is not the overnight Renaissance hotel parking rate. A conference guest who sleeps at the hotel should compare convenience, in/out needs and overnight rules before trying to switch between parking products.

Parking: hotel rate vs GICC rate vs EV charging

Where you parkCurrent published priceBest forImportant limitation
Renaissance self parking$47/day; Marriott also publishes $30/hourOvernight hotel guests with a vehicleRates can change; confirm at booking/arrival
Renaissance valet$52/dayGuests prioritizing convenienceConfirm current availability and access needs
GICC parking$15 per entry currentlyDay convention visitorsCashless; event fees may vary; not hotel overnight parking
GICC accessible parkingIncluded within GICC parking operationGICC attendees needing designated spacesGICC says 30 accessible spaces
EV chargingNo Renaissance chargerEV driversGICC Lot E has two ChargePoint stations; AC Hotel and Marriott Gateway also list EV charging, subject to availability

Do not compare $15 GICC parking with $47 hotel self-parking as if they are the same product. One is event-entry parking for the convention center; the other is the hotel’s on-site parking. Overnight access, re-entry and event conditions can differ.

Airport-view expectations

The official gallery includes an airport-view room image, but a gallery image is not a promise that every room faces aircraft operations. If runway/airport view matters—or if you are noise-sensitive—choose the exact room category and ask the hotel to confirm location rather than relying on generic hotel photography.

Restaurant, breakfast and late-arrival food

The main restaurant is Hickory & Hazel Southern Table. Marriott currently publishes three daily service windows: 6:00–10:00 AM, 11:00 AM–1:00 PM and 4:00 PM–12:00 AM.

Dining optionCurrent official detailBest use
Hickory & HazelDaily 6–10 AM, 11 AM–1 PM, 4 PM–midnightBreakfast, sit-down lunch and dinner
In-Room Dining listingDaily 6–10 AM and 5–11 PMPotential breakfast/dinner delivery—but see contradiction below

Hickory & Hazel BarHotel bar; restaurant page promotes cocktails and morning coffee to-goEvening drinks / quick coffee
Diesel MarketGrab-and-go food, snacks, beer, wine and ice cream are describedQuick food when a sit-down meal is not practical; confirm hours onsite

Marriott’s room-service contradiction

The current Marriott dining page visibly lists In Room Dining with breakfast and dinner hours, and the hotel overview says room service is available. Yet the FAQ on the same dining page says room service is not offered. If room delivery matters to your late arrival, disability accommodation or work schedule, call 470-306-0100 before relying on it.

Late arrival strategy

  • If you expect to arrive before midnight, Hickory & Hazel’s current dinner window is the most clearly published option.
  • If you need food after midnight, do not assume Diesel Market or in-room service is operating 24/7; ask the front desk before your flight.
  • If breakfast timing is critical for an early departure, current restaurant/in-room breakfast starts at 6:00 AM—plan a backup for earlier flights.

Hotel meetings: use the live capacity chart, not the biggest campus number

The current Marriott events page lists 12 event rooms, 12,801 square feet of total event space, a largest-room capacity of 360 and six breakout rooms. Another sentence on that same page still says “5,961 square feet” and “six venues,” so it should not be used as the current total inventory without clarification.

Small/support spaces that planners should not overlook

The live chart also lists a 2,566-sq-ft Conference Center Foyer, 946-sq-ft Tango Foyer, 504-sq-ft Studio, 483-sq-ft Flight Lounge and 102-sq-ft Delta boardroom (conference capacity 6). Those spaces can matter for registration, VIP holding, breaks and smaller team sessions even though they are not large ballrooms.

Technology and services

Current Marriott event services include wireless internet, teleconferencing/videoconferencing, LCD equipment, microphones, PA systems, TV production support, certified meeting planning, decorator/electrician/security support, portable stage, podiums, tables and other standard event equipment. For production-critical internet or A/V, request a current event quote instead of treating guest Wi-Fi as a production circuit.

What the official meeting PDF adds—and where it differs

The Marriott-linked meeting brochure is useful because it shows room relationships as well as a capacity table. It places Tango One/Tango Two inside the Tango Ballroom configuration, Alpha/Bravo as combinable rooms, and shows Echo, Foxtrot, Delta, Studio, Flight Lounge, Hickory & Hazel, Magnolia Patio, Tango Terrace and prefunction/lobby areas around the meeting zone.

Useful for attendees

Knowing whether your agenda says Tango, Alpha/Bravo, Echo/Foxtrot or an outdoor space helps you ask staff for the right part of the hotel.

Useful for planners

The PDF makes adjacency clear: restaurant/lounge, foyer and outdoor spaces can support receptions, breaks and overflow around ballroom sessions.

Use current web chart for final numbers

Some PDF capacities no longer match Marriott’s current live table, so use the live chart/RFP when exact counts matter.

Two examples of official-source drift: the PDF lists Alpha/Bravo schoolroom capacity as 30 each, while the live page now shows 27. The PDF lists Tango Terrace as 675 sq ft / reception 40 / banquet 30, while the live page shows 672 sq ft / reception 60 / banquet 40. For a current event, use Marriott’s live capacity chart and your signed event plan.

Reviews: use them to answer a decision, not to copy a star score

Google snapshot on Aug. 17, 2026: the hotel is showing about 4.5/5 from roughly 1,700+ Google reviews. Review counts and ratings change continuously, so this is a dated reference—not our own rating and not structured-data markup.

Google’s review filters currently surface themes such as transit, location, parking, breakfast, bathrooms, service, cleanliness and sleep. Those topics are more useful than the headline star score when deciding whether the property fits your trip.

Airport overnight

Filter for SkyTrain, late arrival, aircraft noise, bed comfort, early breakfast and check-in speed.

GICC convention stay

Filter for walkway, elevators, restaurant waits, conference traffic, parking and multi-night housekeeping.

Meeting planner

Look for ballroom service, catering execution, A/V, signage, group check-in and how staff handled busy event days.

This page intentionally does not add Review or AggregateRating schema. Current public review ratings belong to the source platforms and are not generated by convention-center.org.

Photos: the official gallery is more useful when you inspect the right images

Marriott’s current gallery contains 88 images. It includes exterior/entrance/lobby, guest rooms, accessible bathrooms, suites, club lounge, Hickory & Hazel, Magnolia Patio, fitness, the SkyTrain/GICC area, meeting setups and weddings.

1Check room layoutsCompare King, Double/Double, corner room and suite photos rather than judging from lobby images.
2AccessibilityThe gallery specifically includes accessible bathtub and roll-in-shower photos; still book the exact accessible room type.
3Airport viewAn airport-view photo exists, but it does not mean every guest room has that view.
4Meeting setupLook at Tango Ballroom classroom/reception photos plus Alpha/Bravo, Echo/Foxtrot and Delta setups.
5Outdoor eventsInspect Magnolia Patio and Tango Terrace imagery before planning weather-dependent functions.
6Food expectationsRestaurant/bar and plated-food images help you judge style, but menus/prices should be checked live.

These properties share the Gateway airport district but solve different needs. Do not choose only by brand name or straight-line distance.
