Gaylord Rockies: Know the Real Cost, Location and Event Plan Before You Go
Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center is a large resort-convention property in Aurora, Colorado near Denver International Airport—not a downtown Denver convention hotel. It combines more than half a million square feet of event space with 1,500+ rooms, on-site dining, Arapahoe Springs Water Park, spa facilities and seasonal resort events.
The useful plan depends on whether you are staying overnight, attending a conference, visiting for dinner or spa time, or bringing a family for the water park.

Which Gaylord Rockies option should I choose?
Stay on property if your schedule is packed
The resort’s scale makes an on-site room valuable when early sessions, receptions and networking all happen inside the property. Compare the event room-block rate against the public Marriott rate before booking.
Choose it for resort time, not downtown walkability
Arapahoe Springs, seasonal activities and family recreation are the strongest reasons to stay. If your trip is mostly downtown Denver sightseeing, add transportation time and cost before deciding.
Use hourly parking and confirm access first
Restaurants, spa visits, meetings and some events can work as short visits. The water park is officially described as an overnight-resort-guest amenity, so do not arrive expecting a standard public day pass.
Gaylord Rockies prices: calculate the real stay cost, not just the room
A single search-result price is not a reliable budget for Gaylord Rockies. The room rate changes with date, occupancy, package, view, room type and group block. A useful comparison separates the room rate, resort fee, parking and optional paid experiences.
| Cost | Current verified detail | Status | User action |
|---|---|---|---|
| Room-rate snapshot | Marriott displayed $390/night for a sample Aug. 30–31, 2026 search | Date-specific reference | Search your exact dates; do not treat $390 as a permanent starting price |
| Resort fee | $28/night shown as included in that current Marriott rate listing | Current reference | Check whether your booking total already includes it before adding it again |
| Self-parking | $15 for 0–4 hr; $25 for 4–8 hr; $35 for 8+ hr / daily | Official Marriott rate | Use hourly tiers for dinner, spa or short meetings |
| Valet | $24 for 0–4 hr; $39 for 4–8 hr; $49 for 8+ hr / daily | Official Marriott rate | Useful with luggage, mobility needs or a tight event schedule |
| Pet fee | $125 non-refundable per stay | Official Marriott policy | Up to 2 pets, maximum 50 lb each; restrictions apply in dining/pool areas |
| Breakfast | Available onsite for a fee | Meal choice varies | Do not assume breakfast is included in a standard room rate |
| Cabanas / premium seating | Paid reservation; overnight-resort-guest access | Dynamic | Check live inventory and price before promising a pool upgrade |
| Spa / Topgolf / themed dining | Separate paid experiences unless your package explicitly includes them | Dynamic | Read package inclusions line by line |
Price reality check: Marriott’s own current destination pages show why a permanent “Gaylord Rockies price” is misleading. Use the $390 + $28 figure only as a dated market reference, then use the official booking screen for your stay dates.
What does the resort fee actually mean?
Marriott says many resort activities are included in the resort fee, but it does not mean every experience on property is free. Current complimentary examples include resort-guest morning yoga, while private cabanas, Topgolf Swing Suite, themed dining, spa treatments and other ticketed experiences may cost extra.
Current 2026 offers worth checking before you book
Packages can be better than a standard room rate when they replace a cost you were going to pay anyway. These are current official Marriott offers as of this review; availability can still depend on your dates and room inventory.
| Offer | Current official inclusion | Valid stay dates | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sidekick Stays | Two guaranteed connecting rooms, 2 scavenger-hunt booklets, 2 superhero capes, 2 s’mores kits and self-parking for one vehicle; 2-night stay required; code CUE | May 22–Sept. 6, 2026 | Families needing two connecting rooms during Super Hero Summer |
| Together is More | Two guaranteed connecting-room configurations; one confirmation number; code MAJ | Jan. 8–Dec. 31, 2026 | Families/groups prioritizing guaranteed connection |
| Relâche Spa Package | One-night stay, self-parking and $175 spa credit per night; code SPA | Jan. 7–Dec. 31, 2026 | Travelers already planning spa spend and parking |
Compare the package, not the marketing name: calculate the same dates under the standard rate and the package. A package is only a saving if you actually value the included rooms, parking, spa credit or activities.
Is Gaylord Rockies in Denver or Aurora?
The official address is Aurora, Colorado. “Denver” appears frequently in search results and Marriott marketing because the property serves the Denver metro area and sits near Denver International Airport. If you are booking transport, shipping boxes or entering an address, use Aurora, CO 80019, not downtown Denver.
Actual city
Aurora, Colorado
6700 North Gaylord Rockies Boulevard, Aurora, CO 80019.
Airport relationship
Denver International Airport is the closest airport and Marriott lists it about 6.3 miles from the property.
Downtown expectation
This is not a downtown Denver hotel. If your itinerary centers on downtown restaurants, museums or nightlife, add ground-transport time and cost.
Map is for geographic orientation. Conference attendees should also use their event agenda or ballroom assignment because the resort and convention complex is large.
Gaylord Rockies photos: use the official gallery as a booking tool
The current Marriott gallery shows 145 photos covering hotel views, activities, dining, guest rooms, suites, recreation, spa, meetings, weddings and nearby attractions. The useful approach is not to scroll all 145—it is to inspect the photos that answer your specific booking question.
| Your decision | Official gallery images to inspect | What to look for |
|---|---|---|
| Conference logistics | Aurora Registration Desk, convention escalators, Aurora Exhibit Hall, ballrooms, pre-function areas | Scale, hallway width, escalator dependence, foyer size and registration flow |
| Family resort stay | Arapahoe Springs aerials, indoor pool, slides, lazy river, cabanas, Games Lawn | Whether the resort amenities justify staying onsite |
| Room choice | King, Queen/Queen, partial mountain-view rooms, Deluxe/Junior/Executive/Presidential suites | Bed layout, sofa-bed placement, work area and actual living space |
| Dining | Old Hickory, Copper Table, Garden + Grain, Mountain Pass, Embers, Fortunate Prospector | Business-dinner atmosphere versus casual group dining |
| Wedding / social event | Mountain View Pavilion, lawns, terraces and staged ballroom setups | Indoor/outdoor transitions and how much décor changes the room |
Photo limitation: official photography is excellent for layout and amenity verification, but it cannot show the crowd level, restaurant wait, elevator queue or conference noise you will face on your dates. Pair photos with recent trip-type reviews.
Gaylord Rockies upcoming events: separate resort activities from conventions
“Upcoming events” has two meanings at this property. Marriott publicly promotes resort experiences, while many association meetings, trade shows and private conventions are managed through their own organizers and may not appear as a complete public hotel calendar.
Super Hero Summer featuring DC
May 23–Sept. 7, 2026. Current programming features DC characters, poolside activities, scavenger-style experiences and themed dining. Overnight stays unlock resort-guest experiences; some activities are complimentary and others are paid/reservation-based.
Christmas at Gaylord Rockies
Nov. 20, 2026–Jan. 3, 2027. Marriott is promoting ICE! featuring Disney Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas plus holiday activities. Ticket and package inventory is date-specific.
Use the organizer, not the resort leisure calendar
For a convention or trade show, the organizer is the source for registration, badge pickup, exhibit hours, meeting-room assignments, shipping labels and attendee room blocks.
Important: do not infer that a private conference is cancelled because it is absent from Marriott’s public leisure-experiences page. Likewise, a resort activity ticket does not grant admission to a private convention.
Useful daily resort activities during the current season
Rooms, suites, check-in and conference room blocks
Official sources use slightly different room wording, but the inventory reconciles cleanly: Ryman lists 1,501 total guest rooms, while Marriott describes 1,387 guest rooms plus 114 suites. Marriott sometimes rounds this to “1,500 guest rooms.”
| Item | Current official detail | What the guest should do |
|---|---|---|
| Check-in | 4:00 p.m. | Ask about luggage storage if arriving for an earlier conference session |
| Checkout | 11:00 a.m. | Coordinate bags around morning meetings, pool use and airport departure |
| Minimum check-in age | 18 | Important for student teams and younger travelers |
| Property | Smoke-free | Follow current property rules |
| Pets | Up to 2 pets, max 50 lb each; $125 non-refundable fee per stay | Pets are not allowed in pool areas, restaurants or dining spaces |
| Internet | In-room Wi-Fi is available; Marriott says Bonvoy members booking direct receive complimentary in-room Internet | Do not assume guest-room Wi-Fi equals guaranteed exhibitor/production bandwidth |
| Group block | Marriott says blocks of 10+ rooms may receive a group rate | Compare organizer block cutoff/terms with the public rate before booking |
| Connecting-room offer | Current 2026 MAJ package offers two guaranteed connecting-room configurations | Useful when “connecting” must be guaranteed rather than merely requested |
Conference attendee tactic: the cheapest room is not always the lowest-friction room. If your event starts early or ends late, staying on property can eliminate daily parking and ground-transport logistics—but still compare the full room + fee + parking cost.
Arapahoe Springs Water Park: access, hours, slides and lazy river
Arapahoe Springs is a three-acre water park reserved for overnight resort guests. Marriott’s current experiences page describes a 720-foot seasonal lazy river, indoor and heated outdoor pools, whirlpools, waterslides, sun decks and private cabanas.
| Feature | Current official status | Rule / planning detail |
|---|---|---|
| Heated outdoor pool, outdoor whirlpool, adult hot tub | Year-round; Sun–Thu 9 a.m.–9 p.m.; Fri–Sat 9 a.m.–10 p.m. | Hours are subject to change based on hotel occupancy |
| Indoor pool | Year-round; same published hours | Overnight resort-guest amenity |
| Lazy river | Seasonal; current experiences describe it as 720 feet long | Rocky grotto, water jets and bubblers; recheck operations close to stay |
| Indoor waterslides | Available during operating periods | Guests must be at least 48 inches tall |
| Outdoor slide | Available during operating periods | Marriott currently lists no height requirement |
| Cabanas / daybeds / premium lounge chairs | Reservable March through December on current experiences page | Exclusive to overnight resort guests; extra cost |
Family planning rule: verify water-park hours twice—once before booking and again near arrival. Marriott explicitly says operating hours can change with occupancy, and the lazy river is seasonal.
What else can you do at the resort?
The property is more than a pool-and-conference hotel. Official current experience pages list activities that can make staying onsite more practical for families or companions who are not attending every meeting session.
Games Lawn
Current options include giant chess, bocce and cornhole. Marriott also promotes pool games and other rotating family activities.
Topgolf Swing Suite
Interactive simulators support golf plus other sports games. Check current ticket/reservation availability.
Fitness + outdoor recreation
Official spa/fitness material lists cardio and strength equipment plus mini golf, tennis, basketball and pickleball.
Gaylord Rockies restaurants: choose by time, trip type and reservation need
Marriott’s current guest-facing dining directory lists 10 dining entries when bars, grab-and-go, poolside dining and À la Carte delivery are included. Other official pages use smaller “restaurant” or food-and-beverage counts because they group outlets differently.
| Dining option | Best for | Current published hours / meal period | Micro-tip |
|---|---|---|---|
| Garden + Grain Seasonal Kitchen | Casual seasonal American food, families and groups | Lunch and dinner | Current Marriott page supports table booking |
| Old Hickory Steakhouse | Business dinner, celebration, steak/seafood | Daily 5–10 p.m. | Smart casual; reservation is sensible during conference nights |
| Copper Table | Breakfast plus Colorado-inspired all-day meals | Breakfast, lunch and dinner | Useful before early conference sessions |
| The Fortunate Prospector | English pub food and casual dinner | Daily 5–10 p.m. | Good evening alternative to steakhouse dining |
| Mountain Pass Sports Bar | Burgers, sandwiches, groups and sports | Daily 11 a.m.–11 p.m. | Features a 75-foot flat-panel screen; expect demand around major games |
| Embers Lodge Bar | Cocktails, small plates, informal meetup | Daily 11 a.m.–midnight | Useful central gathering point |
| Rockies Marketplace | Grab-and-go, snacks, early departure | Daily 5:30 a.m.–11 p.m. | Good fallback when a conference break is short |
| Arapahoe Springs Bar & Grill | Poolside food and drinks | Lunch and dinner | Availability follows water-park operations |
| Cocoa Bean | Coffee, bakery items, quick breakfast/lunch | Breakfast and lunch | Proudly serves Starbucks coffee |
| À la Carte – In Room Delivery | Food delivered to guest room | Daily 6 a.m.–midnight | Marriott says traditional room service is not offered; this is the in-room delivery alternative |
Where can you get breakfast?
Marriott specifically lists breakfast for a fee at Copper Table, Rockies Marketplace, Cocoa Bean and À la Carte in-room delivery. If your first session starts early, compare those options against your event’s catered breakfast rather than waiting until the morning rush.
Convention-night dining warning: a resort with many outlets can still develop queues when thousands of attendees break at once. Reserve a table when the restaurant supports reservations, or keep Rockies Marketplace / À la Carte as a backup.
Gaylord Rockies reviews: compare platforms before deciding
There is no single universal review score. Platforms have different audiences, dates and review counts. The useful signal is the pattern across platforms and whether the comments match your trip type. These are live SERP snapshots reviewed August 18, 2026—not ratings created by convention-center.org.
Family travelers should filter for
Lazy river operation, slide access, pool crowding, kids’ activities, room layout, breakfast, cabanas and how much time the family actually spent onsite.
Conference travelers should filter for
Meeting-room walking time, signage, elevators, check-in, restaurant queues, event Wi-Fi, water stations, room-block handling and late sessions.
Value-sensitive travelers should filter for
Parking, resort fee, dining spend, transportation to Denver, package value and whether they used enough on-property amenities to justify the total cost.
What the score spread tells you: the resort experience is unusually trip-dependent. Cleanliness and amenities score relatively well on current official Marriott reviews, while value scores lower; Tripadvisor also shows value below cleanliness. That is a better booking clue than copying one star rating into an SEO box.
Convention-center size: why official numbers differ
Gaylord Rockies is a large meeting campus, but official organizations describe the space with different measurement scopes. Do not add these numbers together.
| Official source | Current published figure | What it appears to measure | How to use it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Marriott property Meetings & Events | 526,457 sq ft total event space; 70 event rooms; 78 breakout rooms; largest-space capacity 10,000 | Property-level event inventory and capacity system | Best operational reference for room and capacity planning |
| Gaylord Hotels corporate resort finder | 559,315 sq ft total meeting space; 175,000 sq ft exhibit/flex; 78 breakout/conference rooms; largest meet-and-feed capacity 15,000 | Brand-level comparative meeting metrics | Useful for comparing Gaylord properties, not for selecting one room |
| Ryman property profile / filing | 409,000 sq ft meeting & exhibit space; about 75,000 sq ft outdoor meeting space; 85-acre resort | Asset-level meeting/exhibit and outdoor space categories | Use for ownership/asset context, not as a floor-plan total |
Planner rule: ask for the room-specific capacity chart and floor plan. “500,000+ sq ft” is a marketing-scale number; your actual capacity depends on the specific room, setup, staging, AV, aisles, catering and fire-code requirements.
Key event spaces: use the capacity chart, then check the marketing description
| Space | Current source detail | Typical use | What the attendee/planner should do |
|---|---|---|---|
| Aurora Exhibition Hall | Marriott’s current capacity chart lists the full Aurora room at 174,115 sq ft; a separate meeting overview describes the exhibit hall as over 179,520 sq ft | Trade shows, expos, large conventions | Use the current room-specific capacity chart and organizer floor plan for contracted layout; the facility guide shows dedicated loading/service access |
| Aurora Ballroom | Current capacity chart: 47,573 sq ft; Marriott’s meeting overview separately describes 59,467 sq ft of carpeted space | General sessions, banquets, entertainment | Do not choose capacity from the larger marketing figure alone; confirm the exact current room diagram and setup |
| Colorado Ballroom | 34,463 sq ft in current Marriott material, with substantial pre-function space | Large meetings, banquets, sessions | Level 3; save the section letter because the ballroom divides |
| Adams Ballroom | Current capacity chart: 34,476 sq ft; other Marriott meeting copy describes about 34,467 sq ft | Large sessions and banquets | Level 1; nearby Cottonwood, Maple and Spruce rooms can create similar-sounding agenda locations |
| Juniper Ballroom | Marriott describes it as its most intimate ballroom, roughly 7,500 sq ft; the adjacent Juniper Patio is 13,444 sq ft | Smaller general sessions, galas, training, social functions | Confirm whether the agenda means the ballroom or the patio |
| Mountain View Event Pavilion | Capacity chart lists an 8,470-sq-ft room; Marriott separately describes 12,118 sq ft of indoor event + pre-function space, plus outdoor terraces/patios and lawns | Receptions, celebrations, indoor/outdoor events | Ask which footprint the event is using; weather and outdoor setup can change the practical plan |
Official facility-guide floor plan: which level is your meeting on?
The audited facility map is more useful to attendees than a generic “large convention center” description. Save the exact room name and level before walking from your hotel room or parking.
Colorado Ballroom cluster
Colorado Ballroom sections plus Red Rock, Willow Lake, balcony, foyer and pre-function areas. If your agenda says “Colorado,” plan for Level 3 rather than wandering around the exhibit hall level.
Aurora Ballroom + Exhibit Hall
Aurora Ballroom, Aurora Exhibit Hall, Summit/Crest/Valley rooms, pre-function areas and the walkway toward the hotel. This is a major trade-show and large-session level.
Adams, Juniper + outdoor-event access
Adams and Juniper ballrooms; Cottonwood, Maple, Spruce; Aspen Boardroom, Breckenridge, Telluride and Vail; Mountain View Pavilion/Lawn and Front Range Lawn.
Attendee micro-tip: “Meet me at Gaylord Rockies” is too vague. Use the ballroom name, room letter/number, registration desk, exhibit booth or named lobby area as the meetup point.
Exhibitor and planner details that are easy to miss
Denver International Airport, 61st & Peña and shuttle reality
Gaylord Rockies is convenient to DEN, but the hotel’s official page explicitly says it does not provide shuttle service. Marriott also lists 61st & Peña Station as a nearby bus/train reference; that does not create a hotel shuttle for the final leg.
| Arrival method | Best for | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Rideshare / taxi | Short conference stay, no off-site plans | Airport pickup zone, surge pricing and return ride |
| Rental car | Families or travelers visiting Denver/Boulder/Red Rocks/mountain areas | Add $35/day self-parking to the trip budget |
| Rail to 61st & Peña + last mile | Travelers comfortable combining transit and rideshare | No hotel shuttle; plan the final connection separately |
| Event-provided transport | Large conferences/groups | Use your organizer’s schedule and pickup instructions, not generic hotel guidance |
Parking, payment, EV charging and short visits
Parking is one of the easiest costs to underestimate because the same property serves overnight guests, conference attendees, restaurant visitors and spa appointments. Marriott currently publishes both hourly tiers and daily rates.
| Parking | 0–4 hours | 4–8 hours | 8+ hours / daily |
|---|---|---|---|
| Self-parking | $15 | $25 | $35 |
| Valet | $24 | $39 | $49 |
Colorado local: the current Local Resident Card offers 10% off dining and Relâche Spa plus complimentary self-parking for up to four hours. Enrollment requires a valid Colorado ID and current terms should be checked before relying on the benefit.
Accessibility and mobility planning for a very large resort
Marriott lists accessible on-site and van-accessible parking, elevators and accessible routes from the public entrance to meeting spaces, restaurants, the spa, fitness center and pool. The practical issue is not only whether a route is accessible—it is how far that route is from your room and meeting assignment.
Room features you can ask Marriott to confirm
Current accessibility information includes room options/features such as roll-in showers, adjustable hand-held shower wands, grab rails, closed-caption televisions, flashing door knockers, hearing-accessible rooms or kits, and lowered door/security hardware. Availability is room-specific.
If walking distance matters: call +1 720-452-6900 and also ask your event organizer which elevator bank and floor serve your sessions. “Accessible room” does not automatically mean “closest room to my conference.”
Relâche Spa: reservation, age and cancellation details
Relâche Spa offers massages, body treatments, facials, manicures and pedicures. Current Marriott spa guidance says a credit card is required to guarantee services and guests must be at least 18 years old.
| Need | Current official detail | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Reservations / questions | 720-574-1590 | Call when your trip depends on one specific treatment or time |
| Cancellation / reschedule | Contact reservations at least 24 hours before the service start time | Inside 24 hours, Marriott lists a $50 fee for spa/facial services and $25 for nail services |
| No-show | Full value of the service | Do not treat a spa booking like a flexible activity slot |
| Local Resident Card | 10% off treatments + up to 4 hours complimentary self-parking | Useful for Colorado locals visiting without an overnight stay |
Who owns and manages Gaylord Rockies?
Gaylord Rockies is a private hospitality property, not a city-owned convention center. Ryman Hospitality Properties identifies Gaylord Rockies among its hospitality assets, while Ryman’s 2026 filing states that Marriott is responsible for day-to-day management of the Gaylord hotel properties. For users, that means Ryman is the ownership/asset source while Marriott is the practical source for reservations, guest policies and operations.
FedEx, packages, freight and conference materials
There are two different logistics problems: sending a guest/package to the hotel and shipping exhibit freight for a show. Do not use a normal guest-package label as a substitute for your show’s freight instructions.
| Task | Current practical detail | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Guest / speaker package | On-site FedEx/parcel service; receiving and handling fees may apply in addition to carrier charges | Address it to the guest c/o Gaylord Rockies and contact the Business Center for large/time-sensitive items |
| Exhibitor freight | Aurora exhibit area has dedicated loading/service access | Use the event’s exhibitor manual for advance warehouse vs direct-to-show address, labels, carrier check-in and move-in window |
| Business Center | 303-390-9121 | Call before sending expensive, oversized or deadline-sensitive material |
| Current hours | Mon–Fri 8 a.m.–7 p.m.; Sat–Sun 9 a.m.–5 p.m. | Do not assume staff availability matches a late-night conference schedule |
Official guest-package address:
Guest Name
c/o Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center
6700 Gaylord Rockies Blvd.
Aurora, CO 80019
Exhibitor warning: your event contractor may have different labels, deadlines, material-handling charges and dock windows. Use the show kit before shipping a booth or pallet.
Is Gaylord Rockies worth staying at for your trip?
| Trip type | Why the resort can work well | Reason to compare alternatives |
|---|---|---|
| Multi-day convention attendee | Sleep, sessions, networking, restaurants and event space in one campus | Full stay cost can rise after resort fee, parking and dining |
| Family resort weekend | Water park, 720-foot lazy river, games, seasonal programming and connecting-room packages | Best value comes from actually using the resort amenities |
| Early/late DEN traveler | Only 6.3 miles from DEN | No hotel airport shuttle; compare airport hotels if shuttle service is your priority |
| Downtown Denver sightseeing trip | Self-contained resort can still be a comfortable base | It is in Aurora, not downtown; repeated rideshare/rental-car time changes the equation |
| Colorado local day visit | Dining, spa and seasonal activities can work without a hotel stay | Water park is not a general public day-pass amenity; check access rules |
Common planning mistakes
| Problem | Why it happens | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| You thought the hotel was downtown Denver | Search results often use “Denver” as metro-area shorthand | Use the Aurora address and budget ground transport for downtown plans |
| Your “cheap” room becomes expensive | Parking, resort fee, dining and extras were not included in the comparison | Compare the full trip cost, not only the room headline |
| You expected an airport shuttle | The property is near DEN, but Marriott says there is no hotel shuttle | Pre-plan rideshare, taxi, car rental or organizer transportation |
| You arrive for a water-park day visit | Arapahoe Springs is marketed as an overnight-resort-guest amenity | Confirm a qualifying stay/access before promising the activity to children |
| You cannot find the conference room | “Gaylord Rockies” is much larger than a normal hotel lobby | Save the exact ballroom/meeting-room name and event map before arrival |
| You ship a box and face an extra fee | Receiving/handling charges are separate from carrier shipping | Contact the on-site FedEx/Business Center before sending materials |
| You rely on one review score | Family, conference and value travelers judge different parts of the property | Read recent reviews filtered to your trip type |

Optional trip-cost checker
Enter the room rate shown on your Marriott booking screen. This tool estimates room + resort fee + parking only; it does not include taxes, dining, spa, seasonal tickets, cabanas or package fees.
Estimate the base stay cost
Use the current booking screen as the final price source. This calculator deliberately avoids taxes because tax treatment can vary by rate and booking.
