San Jose Convention Center events this weekend
For Friday–Saturday, August 21–22, Wobbleland 2026 is confirmed by Insomniac at this venue. Insomniac lists an event window of 5 PM–midnight both days and age 18+. Front Gate’s ticket page shows a 6 PM “show” time, so treat 5 PM as the organizer-listed event window and confirm the exact door/show timing on your ticket before leaving.
Bag and security rules: check the event, not a generic venue rule
We did not find a single venue-wide public bag-size policy on the current official San Jose Convention Center pages. That matters: bag limits and screening can be set by the event organizer.
For Fanime 2026
Fanime explicitly said it had no bag limit, while recommending smaller or clear bags to speed weapon-detector screening. That rule applied to Fanime—not automatically to other events.
For Wobbleland
The event listing confirms the venue, dates and 18+ age requirement, but the listing we audited does not publish a venue-specific bag size. Check the latest Insomniac event FAQ/guidelines before arrival.

Check current GalaxyCon visit information for props, cosplay, registration and security. Its map/schedule can update close to the event.
Venue policies that matter before you arrive
The official Facilities User Guide is written mainly for event clients, but several rules answer visitor questions that generic venue pages often miss. These are venue-level rules; your event can add stricter requirements.
Operating window is not your event time
The guide lists normal facility operating hours as 7 AM–11 PM Pacific. That is a staffing/operations window, not a promise that public doors are open all day. Use your ticket or organizer for doors, registration and closing time.
Pets vs service animals
Animals are not allowed unless they are service animals or part of a scheduled event. Animals that are part of an event must remain under handler control and cannot be within 100 feet of food-service areas.
Smoking
The Convention Center is non-smoking. The facility guide says outdoor smoking is permitted only at least 25 feet from entrances, exits and operable windows.

Parking: current garage rates, entrances, clearance and alternatives
The Convention Center Garage is the most direct verified parking facility. ParkSJ lists it at 150 W San Carlos Street, with entrances on Almaden Boulevard and Market Street, open 24 hours, and 1,140 spaces.

Garage details that can change your vehicle choice
6’8" clearance
The facility guide lists 6 feet 8 inches clearance at both Market and Almaden garage entrances. Oversized vans, roof boxes and tall vehicles should verify fit before entering.
Daily maximum resets at 6 AM
ParkSJ says the Convention Center Garage daily maximum ends at 6 AM; a new parking day begins then. This matters for overnight hotel guests and multi-day events.
Accessible + EV spaces
The venue facilities guide describes 13 accessible spaces and 10 EV-charging spaces in the attached garage. Availability is not guaranteed, so arrive early for large events.
VTA light rail and getting to the venue without parking
Convention Center Station is the closest named VTA light-rail stop. VTA’s current station page confirms wheelchair boarding and shows the stop at approximately 37.330168, -121.88975. Because it is a street-level stop, VTA lists no station elevator or escalator.
Best for downtown riders
Use VTA light rail when your origin is already on a convenient route and you want to avoid downtown event parking.

VTA marks wheelchair boarding as available at Convention Center Station.
Check before departure
Open VTA service alerts the same day. A prior Aug 8–9 track-work closure affecting Convention Center Station is expired and should not be presented as a current disruption.
San Jose airport to the Convention Center
Visit San Jose’s current meetings page describes San José Mineta International Airport as about 3.9 miles from the meetings destination. For a first-time visitor, direct rideshare/taxi is usually the simplest luggage-friendly option; transit may be cheaper but can require more planning. Use VTA’s trip planner for your exact arrival time instead of hard-coding an evergreen route.
Hotels: connected vs merely walkable
The most useful hotel distinction is not “nearby”—it is connected. Visit San Jose explicitly identifies Hilton San Jose and San Jose Marriott as directly connected to the Convention Center and says five additional hotels are within walking distance.

300 S Almaden Blvd. Visit San Jose describes it as connected to the convention center and lists secure onsite parking.
Best for: exhibitors, speakers, mobility-sensitive attendees and people with early sessions who want minimal outdoor walking.

The official Visit San Jose venue gallery includes far more than exterior photos. It shows the Grand Ballroom in multiple layouts, Executive Ballroom, concourses, classroom/banquet/theater room setups, the main entrance plaza, Hub, West Lobby, South Hall, terrace spaces and day/night exterior views.

Official totals disagree—here is the safest way to read them
The current planner page publishes 367,526 sq ft of total convention-center space, while a separate current Visit San Jose listing still says 372,754 sq ft. The floor-plan PDF separately gives room-by-room and hall-specific measurements. Rather than pretending one number erases the others, use the current planner page for the headline planning metric and the PDF for exact room specs.
Wi‑Fi and internet: the detail most generic guides get wrong
Official Team San Jose Tech Services says Wi‑Fi is available to show management, exhibitors and attendees throughout the Convention Center, but it is rate-limited to 3 Mbps download / 1 Mbps upload, uses client isolation, has no password/splash authentication, and a daily fee applies to all Wi‑Fi services.
Attendee
Do not arrive expecting complimentary hotel-style Wi‑Fi just because a third-party listing says “free Wi‑Fi.” The official venue tech page says a daily fee applies.
Exhibitor
Hardwire drops and custom wired/wireless solutions are available. Tech Services lists 408-792-4188 for exhibitor booth-service questions.
Corporate / production
The venue offers paid private-network options and identifies itself as the exclusive provider of internet bandwidth in the facility.

Exhibitors: use the loading-dock address, not the public entrance

Grand Ballroom dock
