Minneapolis airport to Minneapolis Convention Center
Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport is about 11 miles from downtown Minneapolis. Under normal service, the METRO Blue Line stops at both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 and provides an inexpensive route toward downtown. On Aug 17, however, the Blue Line is temporarily operating with replacement buses through Aug 19.

For one traveler with a carry-on, transit can be economical. For a group with exhibit cases or multiple bags, rideshare can be simpler.

Where the airport transit stops actually are
MSP Terminal 1
Under normal rail service, the Blue Line station is below the Red, Blue and Silver parking ramps. From one level below baggage claim, take the airport tram toward those ramps, exit the tram and follow METRO Blue Line signs.
MSP Terminal 2
The station is on the north side of the Orange Ramp. From Level 1 near Ticketing, go up to the Orange Ramp skyway, follow light-rail signs, then take the escalator/elevator down to the platform.
Hotels near Minneapolis Convention Center: skyway-connected vs simply close
Minneapolis has 10,000+ hotel rooms downtown, and Meet Minneapolis says more than 4,500 rooms connect to the Minneapolis Convention Center via the skyway system. That makes hotel choice especially important in winter, during rain, or when you have early sessions and heavy conference bags.

1001 Marquette Ave S. Official Meet Minneapolis directory lists 821 guest rooms. It is on the downtown skyway network and is a practical large-conference choice.
Best for: groups, attendees who value indoor routing, and multi-day meetings.
Hotel Ivy
201 South 11th St. Official directory places it in the heart of downtown near the Convention Center; it has 136 rooms plus suites.
Best for: visitors prioritizing a shorter walk and boutique/luxury positioning.

Skyway warning most hotel lists miss
The Minneapolis skyway network spans more than 10 miles, but it is not one 24/7 public corridor. Individual connected buildings set their own hours. Many skyway-connected buildings close around early evening on weekdays and can have limited or closed weekend access.

Free Ride bus, downtown fares and the normal light-rail connection
Once you are downtown, Metro Transit can be more useful than it first appears. The convention-center area has Free Ride buses along Nicollet Mall connecting the MCC area with Blue/Green Line stations around 5th Street.

Northbound Route 18 and southbound Route 10 operate on the designated free segment. Metro Transit lists service seven days a week from about 5 AM–1 AM.
Downtown Zone
Other qualifying rides within the Downtown Zone cost 50¢, but Downtown Zone fares do not include transfers.
Regular / all-day fare
Current adult local bus/METRO fare is $2. An adult All-Day Pass is $4 and is valid through 2 AM the following day.

Bag policy, cameras and security: check the event, not another Minneapolis venue

The MCC is a layered building, not one giant single-floor exhibit hall. The official floor-plan packet shows Hall A on the Lower Level, Halls B–E and the Auditorium/Ballrooms on Level One, plus meeting-room clusters on the Mezzanine and Level Two.

2024–26 meeting-room modernization: what is verified now?
The venue’s renovation pages use mixed time language. A June 2025 release says 45 of 87 meeting rooms had completed the first phase and the remaining 42 were scheduled for completion in early 2026. The current renovation page still says construction is “underway” and expected to finish in early 2026, which is now past.
